PROVIDING A SOLID CHRISTIAN FOUNDATION IN EDUCATION
Elementary age children benefit from kindergarten through sixth grade classes offering education that is Bible based. We provide a solid foundation in core subjects which enables students to reach for higher educational goals. Children are enriched by great elective classes including art, music, computer, and Physical Education. Sports lovers are able to join one of our organized sports teams in 5th grade and above. Another big plus is our weekly chapel times. They are an important part of our students learning as their Christian character and faith in God are strengthened.
Students are recognized for development progress in a variety of areas. Some of the awards we offer include; Christian Character Ribbon, Scripture Memory Award, Perfect Attendance, Special Recognition, Scholastic Achievement, Christian Character Award and Teacher’s Award.
Students can also make the Principal’s List, Honor Roll, or achieve Good Conduct recognition. These honors involve parties and activities which could include skating, sledding, and Wild Waves.
Our faculty and administration strive to make City Christian Schools into a fun atmosphere for each child. It is a safe environment to try new things where children are encouraged to develop their God given talents.
Kids in 2nd through 6th grade spend time worshiping together in the morning. Every class starts with some form of putting God first. Chapel is a time of corporate worship, scripture, and a prepared message.
In addition to our regular academic schedule, we provide opportunities for students to participate in crafts, science fairs, Young Authors Fair, speech and spelling competitions, an annual talent show and organized music concerts.
Annual field trips may include: the pumpkin patch, children’s museum, the library, restaurants, the veterinary hospital, gem museum, Franz Bakery, Fort Vancouver, the John McLaughlin House, OMSI, and The Oregon Zoo.
All instruction and activities at City Christian Schools are based on a Christian world view. This Christ-centered approach to education is demonstrated in how teachers interact with the student body. Our instructors regularly pray for the students and reflect Christ’s love for them. They even have played an instrumental role in leading students to a personal relationship with Christ.
