Way To Go Golf Team!!!

It has been a great spring! It also has been fun to see our Golf Team work at getting better every day! The season has flown by and culminated with the JV district tournament (hosted at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks, Oregon) and the Varsity district tournament (hosted at OGA Golf Course in Woodburn, Oregon). The Golf program has taken great strides, and the coaching staff is working hard to put “Lion Pride” into our golf program. Two of our Juniors, Mikey and Ryan, both came up just short of making the state tournament, but they both made 2nd Team all District. Congratulations Team – we are so proud of you!!!

The Auction Is Coming April 27th, 2012

City Christian Schools is gearing up for our 3nd Annual Benefit Auction, Friday April 27th, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. It will take place at City Bible Church Main Lobby / Ivy Hall. Our fun and exciting night will include both silent and oral auctions, music, food, games, door prizes and fellowship.

What Will the Money Be Used For
Some of the goals at CCS are to assure that the students are challenged academically and physically, as well as developing their gifts and talents. This is why we have chosen to dedicate proceeds from our auction to complete the purchase of new playground equipment, reinvest into our technology, science, music and athletic programs.

Last year we were able to raise almost $35,000 for the purchase of new computers, laptops and software.
This year the goal is $50,000.

There are several ways you can partner with us to ensure our auction is a success:

Open House March 16th, 2012

City Christian Schools is excited to be hosting an Open House on March 16, 2012 from 5:30-8:30. This is a great opportunity to have some family fun and get to know us better.

We will be combining both the school’s Spring Musical and Art Festival with our annual Open House so that everyone can enjoy great performances from our students and learn more about our school.

Teachers will be there to greet you and share about their classes from 5:30-6:45. Preschool will have special activity centers for any little guests that will be attending. We also will be showing off one of our computer labs, loaded with games for everyone to enjoy.

We will be presenting choir performances, individual music talent, cheer performances, and an art show. There will also be many fun games and activities for your kids too.

From 5:30-6:45, concessions will be open with choices of pizza, nachos, and warm chocolate chip cookies straight from the oven!

Congrats HS Soccer Team

Wow! What a fun evening we had on Friday, Nov. 4th!
Our High School Soccer Team played at Hillsboro Stadium in the final four for 3rd place and won! The score was tied 1-1 after regulation. Then a 20 minute overtime period was played and it was still tied. We went to penalty kicks where we scored 3 goals to the opponents 1. City Christian wins!
Great job team and great job fans on such a fun evening!
The soccer team also brought home some awards from the games played at Hillsboro stadium. Here are the individual awards that were garnered from a hard fought season!

First Team ALL-LEAGUE – Jordan Boivin, Mikey Chown
Second Team ALL-LEAGUE – Tae Woo Kang
Honorable Mention ALL-LEAGUE – Ryan Glanville, Johnny Hakim, Devvon Montigue

Emergency School Closure Notification Policy

In the event of inclement weather, official information regarding school closure for City Christian Schools can be accessed by viewing the CCS Home Page under “Recent News.” Our website will be our primary notification source. Information will be posted as early as possible before 7:00 am. In addition, you may see information crawling at the bottom of your television screen, hear public announcements made on various radio stations, may also receive a tweet from Twitter, or a posting on your Face book page depending on your use of these options. Only in the case of an emergency will you be called by phone.

The Magazine Sale Has Begun!!!

We are excited to let you know that the Magazine Sale is under way and the opportunities are awesome!! September 9th will be the official “kick off” at the school with an assembly and display showing all the great prizes.

You can start right now by inviting your friends to go online at: www.aphearst.com where they can order their favorite magazines and various gift items, using the school code: citychristian. If your friend gives your name, we’ll give you the credit and your child can apply it to any prize day they choose, including the BONUS CASH PRIZE, if 10 items are sold online by kick off on September 9th.

NOTE:If you purchase your subscription online, the magazine arrives within 4-6 weeks. If you purchase it manually, they will arrive between December and February.

This is one of the easiest and most profitable fundraisers we do. CCS gets 45% of all the sales. Please don’t miss this opportunity. Funds raised will be used to enhance playground equipment in elementary, for the Washington D.C. trip in junior high, and high school students get to choose to use their portion for athletics, cheer, or music!!!

Last year we were able to raise $6,500 towards the Rocky Butte Playground, $1,500 towards the Mill Plain Playground, $1,200 towards WA DC, and $1,000 for the High School sports, cheer and music programs.

Additional Prizes:
1. The class that has 100% participation and sells the most will win an out of uniform day and an ice cream party.
2. Every student who sells 10 items wins 30 minutes in the game truck.
3. There is also a chance to win $250,000. Entering is easy shop online and you are automatically entered when you purchase magazines. Go to www.aphearst.com . The contest for the cash prizes ends Jan. 31, 2012 and the drawing will be held in February 2012.

Remember: Every student who sells 10 magazines online by kickoff on Friday Sept. 9th will receive an additional cash prize.
Families can pick up packets early at the school office. They are ready! Come and get them!

We want to thank everyone so much for your involvement in the 2011 City Christian Schools Auction. Because of your support and generosity, we were able to exceed our goal of $30,000, which will allow students K-12 to have hands-on experience with the newest technologies available.
